Drowsy Dowts is a simple 2D endless bullethell where you play as a cat who fights off their nightmares by confronting their negative emotions of FEAR, SORROW and RAGE. Even though they are strong, with the light of your heart you can keep them at bay. However with just nine lives, how far can you last in this neverending nightmare?
Hey, developer here. Been awhile since I've solodeveloped a game let alone joined a gamejam, but I hope you enjoy this humble little game for 2026's CatJam! Very early on in making concept sketches for this gamejam I thought of this concept of a cat warding off nightmares as the central mechanic of the game, but quickly became overwhelmed by my schoolwork. Luckily in the end I was able to still make a finished product I am more than happy with!
Of course, I couldn't have done this all by myself. Special thanks to my good friends: FloralFever, for drawing all of the player and enemy sprites & Reaper who drew and animated the main menu and game icon art!
Additionally: all music was created by Retro Indie Josh, and the meow sound effect is from HYOGI

This is a fun little game,it does get a bit stale after a while, the art is nice, it would be cool if there was a way to see the highest amount of time you survived, it could be a good game if this idea is explored a bit more. But it might be best to leave it as is and focus on new and better projects.
Due to being busy with studies and other projects I didn't get to dedicate as much time to expand on more mechanics, especially since I was on a time crunch for a gamejam ^^ I think in the future I may expand on this game to expand enemy types and scope tho!!
